Commissioner, Nidhi Pandey, IIS
Dear Students, Teachers, and Parents,
On the momentous occasion of Foundation Day 2024 of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), I extend my heartfelt greetings to each one of you. From its humble beginnings in 1963, KVS has grown into an inspiring institution of excellence in school education. This remarkable journey continues to evolve, driven by an unwavering spirit of innovation and progress.

SH. P.I.T. RAJA
Deputy Commissioner
It gives me immense pleasure and profound ardour to forge ahead with students, teachers, parents and all stakeholders in the transformative march towards India’s emergence as a ‘knowledge superpower’. In order to embrace such a glorious transformation, Kendriya Vidyalayas of Silchar region play a pivotal role in moulding the young minds holistically. Manifold activities are carried out in the secular environment of the Vidyalayas so that the students build on strength of character, scientific temperament, moral courage, adaptative skills, critical thinking and greater ability for rational conceptualization along with academic robustness. The policies and programmes of KVS are relentless endeavours and unceasing opportunities to nurture the students’ curiosity and creativity so that they mature with confidence as they harness 21st century skills. One of the missions of KVS is “to develop the spirit of national integration and create a sense of Indianness among children”. Children with stronger roots will be ever ready for greater flights of excellence, academic and otherwise. Hence, we are committed whole-heartedly to mentor students to uphold traditional values, and also internalise a deep sense of respect for cultural diversity. This is realised through a number of competitions organised at various levels. The lofty ideal of Vasudevam Kutumbakam is followed in letter and spirit in our Vidyalayas. “Don’t limit a child to your own learning, for he was born in another time.” R. N. Tagore In our efforts for equitable and inclusive education, our teachers are facilitators who guide the students to newer avenues of learning. The teachers, in turn, adapt to fresh perspectives and techniques of teaching-learning process through professional training, workshops, symposiums etc in order to overcome the challenges that surface at certain situational junctures as well as help students incubate such novel ideas that can change the society. Experiential learning in the sciences, mathematics, arts, social sciences and humanities are practised religiously by the teachers, creating a more interactive, activity-based and multi-disciplinary environment in the classroom. In the days to come, we shall see the unfolding of the vision of NEP 2020 through dynamic and deliberate vitalising of curricular as well as pedagogical structure of our Vidyalayas. By culturing new competencies, we shall equip students to face the multidinous experiences of life and shine out as successful, responsible, resourceful citizens of our country. In this magnanimous gyration of education, a collaborative effort of every individual of the society is tremendously solicited. Thank You.

Dear Children & Parents, You must be prideful in being the part of KVS family which strives higher and wider for the scholastic and co-scholastic growth of the students in the time of the paradigm shift to enable them to brave the challenges of the 21st century which requires highly skilled citizens equipped with not only Intelligence Quotient but also Emotional Quotient. Dear children, I have been entrusted by the KVS with the onus of taking care of you in accordance with the evident objectives for which I will strive and bring you to the desired levels with the co-operation of your parents and other stakeholders. Here I have some tips for you that are mixed with the words of some great men which may be meaningfully useful in conducting yourself even in the roughest and the most unfavourable time to tread the path of life. 1. When you are not in position to direct the wind, adjust your sail and reap the best out of the opportunities which fall in your way. 2. Wisdom comes more from understanding than from knowledge so experience and feel the things rather than receive them passively. 3. Be sensitive to your environment, resources and the people who need you the most. Do the best that you can because you may pass through this life once. Maybe you don’t pass this way again! 4. The filthy and the dirty ambience which sometimes seem to command the sail, offers you enough opportunities to think, be sensitive and choose the path which is righteous, full of serenity and have umpteen chances even for the deprived and the have-nots. 5. Venture and take risks to create your future. See, the turtle makes its progress only when it sticks its neck out from the cover which safely protects it. 6. Dear children, strive and achieve what you want, the only path is the path of hard work and perseverance. Leave your comforts, buckle your shoes and brave the risks and challenges unafraid of blocking boulders of life. Remember: “SHIPS ARE SAFE AT THE HARBOUR BUT ARE THEY MEANT FOR IT?
